The Stearman Logbook Photos page 7

The aircraft is complete, less the propeller and spinner.
The engine cowl is Beech 18, flush riveted. Due to the Broussard exhaust,
the cowl flaps are removed, and new skin was fabricated up to the firewall.
The exhaust exits and fairings are located exactly where the hinge point was
for the cowl flaps. A gap at the cowl trailing edge where it meets the
firewall provides for hot air escape volume similar to having the cowl
flaps in the open position.

Installing the propellor, and making sure everything moves correctly.
We set it to coarse pitch for its first startup.

Up on 3 scales with all equipment present and accounted for.
I've since re-painted the spinner to all-over red.

Leveling the airplane to set datum points to check and record the balance.
The tail is hoisted using an engine hoist and soft rope tied to the tube
cluster near the forward fin attach area.

First run in over 10 years.

There were no leaks, or other problems. Of course. Right.

Two sets of eyes to verify instrument readings.

An almost ready to fly airplane.
Note the oil cooler scoop just aft of the rear cockpit.
Most 450's route the cooler on the right side.
