The Stearman Logbook Photos

The Citabria I sold to help purchase the stearman is pictured here:

She is a 1974 7GCBC, 150 hp, with flaps. This photo was taken when she was just out of restoration by West Coast Aviation in Half Moon Bay, CA. The colors are AN Orange, and Tennessee red in dope on Ceconite, painted to my design. It was very difficult to let her go.

Operated by Medlock Dusters
This photo is my airplane in 1964. She was with Medlock Dusters from 1961 to 1966.
See the Stearman home page for a brief history of this particular airplane. Photo from "Stearman A Pictorial History" by Martin Bowman and Jim Avis.
She ended her dusting career in 1978 after an unspecified crash. Rescued by West Coast Aviation in 1987
she is reduced to the fuel tank, landing gear, BT-13 wheels,
and a horizontal stabilizor all needing restoration. Project beginnings

Birdcage and turtledeck constructed and attached, most all the cockpits furnishings installed. No firewall forward work done yet, no engine controls. Unmodified duster ailerons on the back wall. Note the horiz. stab. in the right foreground.

Below is a photo of the rear cockpit and the electrical panel I constructed. Rather than leave it spartan, I've upholstered a cover for the radios and electrical box. This keeps my knee a bit more comfy, and provides a bit more finished look. The cover comes right off with three screws. This cover also supports a small speaker for listening to ATIS before engine start.

Pilots cockpit.
