Michael Pohl's N86600 was a duster for some years after military service. It was manufactured in 1942 (SN 75-899) as a PT-13B Model. It was converted to Std Cat as an IB75A Model in 1980 based on profeciency checks and field approval (not on STC). The Engine mount is a Serv Aero (long version). Its the one with only 4 Vibr. dampers between the Ring and the Mount. This is the only one also approved for a PW 1340 installation.
The wings are still hi-lift duster wings. It climbs like a homesick angel. The span is wider than original. Even though its fun to fly, Michael will install a complete set of original wings by end of 2009 because he doesn't trust them for acro. N86600 has the BT13 Wheels (27") and the heavy thailwheel which is steerable.
The plane was acqyured from Mark Strub who had in 2004 hit a powerline crossing a river and crashed in the water (similar to a Bud Field-Stearman accident). The fuselage needed an extensive rebuild and the plane now flies great and straight. The only thing Michael is not happy with is the bendix landing gear, saying it's too soft.
If you know who has a Haliburton landing gear let us know. It (Haliburton gear) has shorter springs and is more stiff.
